Each year, the European Commission President presents their assessment on the state of affairs in the European Union. It is crucial that this picture is complemented with the perspective of civil society, that is why Civil Society Europe prepares its Civil Society State of the Union Report.
The 2025 Report, written by more than 35 civil society organisations within our Working Group on the Civil Society State of the Union, presents key civil society proposals for the EU’s policy agenda of 2026 across six thematic areas: democracy and fundamental rights, migration and mobility, social EU, climate transition, digital transformation and human-centred security.
