CSOs’ briefing paper: the Defence of Democracy Package’ Directive on foreign interest representation
This briefing paper analyses the “Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing harmonised requirements in the internal market on transparency of interest representation carried out on behalf of third countries (COM (2023) 637 12/12/2023)” and outlines civil society organisations’ primary concerns and why we believe the proposal fails to address the fundamental rights issues raised during the consultation process. The document has been prepared by the informal coalition on the Defence of democracy Package coordinated by Civil Society Europe with the contribution of 10 civil society organisations (CSOs).
