As part of the European Economic and Social Committee’s Civil Society Week, Civil Society Europe (CSE) is excited to co-organize three engaging sessions. Interested in the EU in the elections, civic dialogue & space, inclusive democracy, and policy-making? Then, these workshops are for you!
- Civic Space, threats to democracy and EU elections
Co-organised by CSE, Social Platform and Transparency International, this session aims to discuss the links between shrinking civic space and the state of play of democracy in the EU against the backdrop of the EU Elections, in a context of increasing risk of disinformation and interference.
When? March 5, 2024. 11:00 – 12:30 CET
More information here.
- Civil dialogue for inclusive democracy
Co-organised by CSE, SOLIDAR and the European Civic Forum, this session aims to explore the role that civil dialogue should play in fostering democracy through the participation of various groups, including the most marginalised ones. To this end, the session will invite representatives from civil society and EU institutions to contribute to the discussion with their perspectives. The outcome of this exchange will be a set of recommendations that will inform the EESC’s electoral manifesto.
When? 6 March 2024. 11:15 – 13:00 CET

- Smart public policymaking in the EU – Making better choices together
Co-organised by CSE and the European Association for Local Democracy, this workshop aims to discuss the state of play of policymaking processes in the EU, as well as the links between high-quality public policymaking, democracy and the meaningful involvement of non-governmental stakeholders or academia.
When? 7 March 2024. 10:00 – 11:30 CET
