The 3rd European Civil Society Academy will take place on 28 and 29 March 2019 in Słubice at Collegium Polonicum in Poland, an Academic institution symbol of reconciliation between Germany and Poland. The meeting is organised in cooperation of: OFOP, the national Polish civil society platform, Collegium Polonicum and the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities.
The European Civic Academy is co-funded as part of the 2018 CPDE European Region work plan by CSO Partnership for Decvelopment Effectiveness within the Swedish Cooperation policies. The event is also supported by the European Civic Forum and Solidar Foundation.
The European Civic Academy aims at 1) bringing together activists and leaders of civil society organisations together with academics and researchers to discuss together societal challenges relating to civil society and democracy, 2) building partnerships between the academic world, and civil society.
In a context where civic freedoms are challenged in several countries of the European Union, the emerging of « illiberal » democracies, the rising of populist movements has created a difficult climate for independent civil society organisations.
The European Civic Academy 2019 will focus on: the impact of populism on civil society, the European elections and Brexit.
The venue has been chosen both as a symbol of European cooperation and in a country where civic space and the rule of law have been attacked, but where civil society is thriving. The registration to the European Civic Academy is mandatory and will be validated by email. Please use the online registration. According to the General Data Protection Regulation, we will erase your information after the event. You can also contact us in case you need to know how we use your personal data. As soon as you receive a confirmation of your registration, we invite participants to organise their travel arrangement and contribute to the accommodation & conference fee.
